Thank you for playing such a significant role in our Exodus Cry partner team!
Your support is helping to push back the rising tide of commercial sexual exploitation on many levels. As part of our team, we want you to be in on the ground floor of what Exodus Cry will be undertaking next year.
We’re excited to announce that we will be releasing our next documentary, Liberated: The New Sexual Revolution, in 2016! We’re thrilled to share these never-before-seen, early access film clips with you. Our goal over the next two years is to get this film in front of as many young adults as possible in the United States and around the world. To read more about how we plan to accomplish that, download our distribution plan and timeline.
It has been a long and critical journey for us to get to this point, and we know for a fact that we could not have done this without your ongoing prayers and support. Thank you so much!
When we finished our first films, Nefarious: Merchant of Souls and Sex+Money: A National Search For Human Worth, we were haunted by the images of women and children for sale in places all around the world — and the men lining up to purchase them. We wondered, “What kind of society is producing so many men willing to buy a woman or child for sex?” Before our first films were even complete, we knew what the next step in the journey needed to be.
In Liberated: The New Sexual Revolution, we focus on western culture.
We examine a society where sex sells, where women are expected to conform to an idealized sexual image, and where men are socialized to consume women for sex. Liberated also covers today’s young adult hookup culture, and delves into the role that the stories told in pop-culture and pornography play in shaping modern attitudes and behaviors regarding sex. Liberated widens the view of today's hookup culture by exposing the rampant sexual assaults occurring in casual sex environments like Spring Break locations — where an estimated 10 million college students travel to each year in America alone.
Our greatest desire is that through Liberated, young adults will gain an understanding of how sexualized media is impacting them, shaping their attitudes and behaviors regarding sex and love, and what it means to be a man or a woman in this world. We want to help them become media literate. We also want to expose how sexual assault and sexual misconduct are becoming increasingly normative and what can be done to curtail that increase.
Finally, and most importantly, we hope to cast a vision for healthy sexuality through the Liberated film and impact campaign. We aim to start a new, large-scale conversation around that — one that leads to practical action steps that can be taken to help create safe and healthy environments for both women and men, and ultimately help reduce the demand for commercial sexual exploitation.
Before you watch the clips below
Please be aware that because of the nature of the material, viewer discretion is highly advised, and none of this content is appropriate for children. Our film team has worked diligently, and has edited this footage to convey the depth and gravity of the issues without over-exposing the viewer to offensive images. We are still working to improve this area as well.
Also, please keep in mind that these clips are from our unfinished, rough-cut version of Liberated. We’re currently in the final stages of editing with a hard deadline to finish it entirely by February at the latest.
We believe that as you watch these clips, you will find yourself stirred and emboldened in your personal resolve to help end commercial sexual exploitation. Again, thank you for standing with us!
